Teacher Lin has been very generous with her time and effort to my learning and enjoyment of the Chinese language and the Chinese culture. She is very adaptable to your learning needs, and she will build out a lesson plan accordingly. Also, she can use a book for you to follow along and to study during your own time. Which I preferred. Even having a casual conversation with her goes a long way in my learning goals and Mandarin level. Highly recommend! BTW, she speaks perfect English, and she understand the culture of the West along with the East.

I have just finished my second year of studying Chinese with Lin. We have done about 250 classes in that time period. I have had a great all-around experience. I am able to speak well and clearly and have a vocabulary of a few thousand words. Learning Chinese is a long process and very difficult but Lin makes it much easier and she is able to make a learning plan to suit your needs. If you are looking for a great teacher look no further than Lin.

The versatility of Lin is fascinating; she knows well Taiwanese and Chinese. Since I value traditional characters, her expertise is valuable. She knows calligraphy and the Zhuyin system too. I feel I have a lot to learn from her. She is very attentive and points out my mistakes as soon as they arise. Her explanations are on the point, unambiguous and concise.

Lin uses a humanistic approach in her teaching method. She puts me at ease by asking me general questions about my moods, and she seems genuinely concerned about my well-being. Lin highlighted the parts I struggled with the most; it became easy to review because I knew where to stress my efforts.

She is also knowledgeable about culture, history and Taiwan. I also like that she can decompose characters and explain the meaning of each of them. Instead of just trying to remember a series of new words, by understanding the soul of all, the impression is much more profound. She is professional, agreeable and meticulous.

Lin is responsive to the feedback and can adjust well. It is easy to communicate with her. She has good listening skills and teaches clearly.

Lin is a fantastic teacher. She is super knowledgeable, kind and patient. She genuinely loves teaching and getting to know her students. I especially like that I am learning how to converse in mandarin on any topic, which builds my confidence to have real conversations in mandarin as opposed to only being able to use formulaic patterns. She is also a truly interesting and awesome person and I enjoy every one of our classes.
